The end of January is here, and in two weeks time, it is Valentines Day! A special occasion for those who are attached and in a relationship, sometimes music is all you need for a romantic date. Preparing a song for your partner is one of the most romantic things you can do, as it shows dedication and effort into impressing your date. You don't have to learn these on the piano (if you don't have the time!) but you can add them into your 'Valentine's Day' playlist.

1. Satie - Gymnopedie No. 1

Some say that this piece may invoke a feeling of isolation or sadness. However, one can also interpret it as a calming and lovely song. Its slow rhythm and beautiful melody adds onto a romantic atmosphere where a couple can share a peaceful moment together. This piece would be perfect as the background music while having a candlelit dinner date.

2. Debussy - Clair de Lune

French for ‘Moonlight’, ‘Clair de Lune’ is one of the most widely-recognised piano pieces of all time. Its scenic impressionistic style makes it the perfect choice for a chilled evening in with your other half. This piece is a rollarcoaster of emotion and intensity, something that can remind you of your lifelong journey with your partner.

3. Liszt - Liebestraum No. 3 - Love Dream

As the title suggests, this piece is of a romantic nature. Liebesträume (German for Dreams of Love) is a set of three solo piano works. Liebestraum No. 3 in A-flat major is the last of the three that Liszt wrote and the most popular. The piano solos were inspired by two poems and were supposed to depict three different forms of love.

Zoe is an avid fan of all kinds of music. Her primary instrument is the guitar but she is always passionately learning how to play other instruments such as the drums and keyboard. She is currently playing the bass guitar in a band and has been routinely involved in music since she was a child.
