Music is always played on piano - jazz, pop, classical etc. But what about dialogues, conversations and just people talking in general? Charles Cornell, the man behind this genius idea, takes piano playing to another level by playing notes of a person's speech. Below is a compilation of him playing over people and their amusing conversations and dialogues.
Charles Cornell started taking piano lessons at the age of 8, with his piano teacher being - his Grandma. Years later, he is now a professional jazz piano player, playing in a band that was formed in his high school, with people who all share the same taste and appreciation for jazz music. He has since released two albums, "Your Choice" in 2017 and "Tales" in 2019. Even though Cornell was coined the "piano meme", he is undoubtedly a talented player, with an ear for jazz rhythms and the harmony.
In his YouTube channel, he features various videos surrounding the topic of piano. One video could be him giving piano tips and advice, the other reacting to various music genres as a jazz pianist. However, our favourite series from his channel is none other than the "piano memes". He has continuously delivered such videos with the same poker face, making it all the more hilarious for us viewers. After his videos went viral, it has inspired us to take an alternative view at the instrument. When we play piano, most of the time, we are practicing our pieces hard and serious. But, playing the piano can also mean having fun, enjoying ourselves, and not taking things too seriously all the time. We can find humour and joy in playing the instrument instead of being serious 24/7. It is little things like these that make us fall in love with our instruments.
So, the next time you touch the piano, remember to have fun! Because, what is the point of playing if you're not at least enjoying yourself?
Zoe is an avid fan of all kinds of music. Her primary instrument is the guitar but she is always passionately learning how to play other instruments such as the drums and keyboard. She is currently playing the bass guitar in a band and has been routinely involved in music since she was a child.
